The first O’Donnell development partnership was created in 1972. Since then, The O’Donnell Group has developed or acquired over 23,000,000 square feet of industrial and office business parks in California, Washington, and Alaska. Over the years, The O’Donnell Group has consistently been ranked among the top developers in the State of California.
Due to the foreseen slowdown in development in 1986, The O’Donnell Group formed O’Donnell Property Services to manage its properties. O’Donnell Property Services has managed and marketed over 26,000,000 square feet of properties throughout the State of California.
Due to the favorable market conditions in 1996, The O’Donnell Group recommenced its development and property management activities and changed its focus from the macro markets of the western United States to the micro markets of southern California. This change facilitated The O’Donnell Group’s ability to concentrate on existing and future opportunities in what is the nation’s largest market. The O’Donnell Group has been able to capitalize on its broker relationships that it has developed over the past 28 years in order to find acquisition and development opportunities.
The O’Donnell Group’s focus since 1996 has been Industrial, Development, Acquisitions, Dispositions, Leasing and Property Management. The O’Donnell Group has since acquired and developed over 10 million square feet of buildings representing $750,000,000 dollars in project costs.
The O’Donnell Group has also established an Asset and Management Services division, the O’Donnell Management Company (OMC) to assist private and institutional clients seeking quality real estate property management and advisory services.

John was the principal partner in various partnerships involved in the development of industrial real estate in Southern California, Northern California, Seattle, Washington and Anchorage, Alaska. These partnerships operated from 1972 to 1989 while developing over 18,000,000 sq. ft. of industrial space.
